Spiral Womb

Created to be displayed with the Fern Forest drawings and the Spiral Plantskin mobiles, the Spiral Wombs are made of hand-dyed silk organza and tulle with cotton threads that enwrap plant-matter. They were meant to carry forward the notions I had of honoring the sacred and the mundane aspects of nature.

Recently it was pointed out to me that they are indeed also drawings– the organza spirals having been cutout like the peeling of an apple in one long piece, then stitched onto the circles. I initially hoped the Spiral Wombs would be an ongoing and progressive artwork. Originally I made five together, and soon after two more were made for fundraising auctions. However, I have never had a chance to make any others, perhaps one day I will.
